The GTA 6 trailers are packed with nods: phone clips spoofing the "Florida Man" phenomenon, a gun store ad that recalls a GTA Vice City character, a road sign with a Top Gun reference and a stunt plane mocking crypto marketing. Here are the most talked-about details from Rockstar's four official videos, with what's actually on screen kept apart from fan theory.

No story spoilers beyond what Rockstar has shown, no leaks, and no screenshots: the trailers are on Rockstar's official channel.

The four official GTA 6 trailers

Launch Trailer Oct 15, 2026 "Flower in a Hurricane", Justice 90 seconds, captured entirely on PS5

Trailer 1: Leonida through a phone screen

  • Florida Man, Leonida edition. Much of the trailer is vertical social media footage: someone fishing a gator out of a pool, twerking on top of a moving car, swinging a hammer in each hand. It's a straight parody of the viral Florida clips behind the "Florida Man" meme, and outlets like Dexerto have matched several shots to real incidents.
  • The song. Florida's own Tom Petty provides the soundtrack, fitting for a game that mocks the state but clearly loves it too.

Trailer 2: callbacks to the series

  • Phil's Ammu-Nation. A TV ad plays for a gun store with that name. Fans link it to Phil Cassidy, the arms dealer from GTA III and GTA Vice City. Whether it's the same character, a relative or simply a tribute is unconfirmed.
  • The couple at the center. The trailer shifts focus to Jason and makes it clear the game is about the two of them together.
  • Rockstar billed Trailer 2 as the biggest video launch of all time, as reported by VGC.

An Extended Look: nods to other Rockstar games

Per Red Bull Gaming's coverage:

  • The criminal profile, which tracks how you behave (unnecessary violence, for example) across the whole game, is reminiscent of Red Dead Redemption 2's honor system.
  • Your characters' bodies change with diet, exercise and sleep, a callback to GTA San Andreas, only much deeper.
  • The wanted level goes up to six stars, and police take note of your clothes, appearance and car.

Launch trailer: the October details

  • "Goose Key". A road sign with that name, which GameSpot reads as a nod to Goose, Maverick's wingman in Top Gun.
  • DacityCoin. A stunt plane carries this branding from a company called AudaCity, a jab at crypto advertising.
  • A green iguana. One shows up, and it's no accident: they're everywhere in South Florida.
  • The pink balaclava. Some outlets connect it to the film Spring Breakers. That's a theory, not a confirmed reference.
  • The music. The Justice track, featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, premiered with the trailer. Justice is also composing the game's original score.
  • All in-engine. Rockstar says the video uses only in-game footage captured on PS5.

What we're leaving out

Some lists include "easter eggs" pulled from the 2022 leaks or leaked maps. We don't cover those. Once the game is out, we'll publish one easter egg per page, verified in-game, with its location.
